Who is For Honor ’s best hero? Fans are already trying to figure out if it’s Shugoki, the angry fat man who blocks all the time, Valkyrie, with her long range or spear or any of the other seven heroes available in For Honor’ s multiplayer?
I’ve been playing For Honor since last weekend’s beta and have already learned a few things. FH is more of a fighting game than a MOBA, it requires you to predict your enemy’s’ attacks and then capitalize on their weaknesses. Like a Fox versus Falco matchup in Super Smash Bros. Melee , having the quicker reflexes and wit will get you more wins than picking what the internet circle jerk picks as For Honor ’s “best hero.”
Each hero in For Honor is viable, Ubisoft spent a ton of time playtesting each character to make sure there was a sense of balance. It might feel cheap to win a duel by throwing someone over a cliff, but that’s exactly what the developers intended. They wanted players to find unique ways to win their games, that's why each hero was given such specific strengths and weaknesses.
Warlords work best when they parry and shield block, while a Peacekeeper wants to keep hammering at you until you die. Let For Honor develop a meta for a few more weeks before claiming which hero is “the best.”
My favorite summaries of each of the heroes comes from reddit user LordVoltaine. Here are just a few entries for what many to be the best heroes in For Honor.
Lawbringer ; This badass with a glaive is a mixture between Warden and Kensei. He has good range, good power, and good defense, wrapped up in an iron suit. Best built for either attack, defense, or a mix between the two (such as defense/penetration or offense/block damage).
Nobushi; This samurai has very strong bleed damage, coupled with the longest reach in the game. Extended fights with a Nobushi can be suicide if you can't handle her, and she is also a great harasser. Best built for movement speed or attack.
Shugoki ; He’s fat, he’s mean and many people believe he’s broken. He loves to trade hits and his grabs are busted, giving him a different play style than the rest. Capitalize on how slow he is, try not to take a fight on his terms and you won’t have too many problems.
Valkyrie; A Berserker with just a splash of Warlord makes this female Viking a balanced on attack or defense. With her unblockable attacks, she’s great at defeating opponents who just want to block and wait out your Stamina bar.
Warlord; He’s got a shield and you are going to have a hard time getting through it. Learn to parry and predict grabs and you should beat this guy with very few problems.
Do you think any of the classes in For Honor are just plain broken? Tell us in the comments.
