South Korean League of Legends player Choi "inSec" In-seok announced the he is officially retiring from playing competitive League of Legends. Considered as one of the game's best junglers, inSec is best known for his use of Lee Sin.
His signature move involved the hero ward jumping from behind a target doing a Resonating Strike. He would then follow it up with Dragon's Rage and kick the target to his own team. InSec first performed this series of moves during the Season 3 All Stars Tournament and the execution was so memorable it became known as The Insec. This particular move would be a staple for many Lee Sin players.
In an interview with Inven Global, inSec revealed that his retirement from competitive play is mainly due to his upcoming military service. In South Korea, males are required to undergo military training. The government is strict with this rule that it even recently implemented tougher punishments for those trying to avoid military duty.
InSec had previously taken a break from League of Legends in July 2018 before returning in December of the same year. However as the specific date when his military service would started to draw closer, he decided to retire rather than put pressure on the team should he suddenly need to leave. For now, inSec revealed he will continue playing but will limit himself to streaming.
While inSec had his start with Team Bubble, his official professional start would be with CJ Entus. He revealed in the Inven interview that when he left the team, he had three goals: beat CJ Entus, play in the League of Legends World Championship, and win in the League of Legends Champions Korea. InSec managed to complete the first two goals, but was unable to get a win at LCK. He later moved to China, playing with Star Horn Royal alongside Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao.
Over the course of his career, inSec has brought a lot to the game. Aside from The Insen, he is widely to known to use Zed jungle in competitive plays, resulting in the hero being banned. He was also responsible for making the top lane Zac popular.
For now, there is no word as to what inSen plans to do after completing military service. In the meantime, he hopes that fans will watch him stream considering that, in his words, he is from an older esports generation.
