iOS 9.3 released on March 21, during the Apple Event keynote and is now available to download. If you are dying to get the new update on your iPhone, iPad or iPod then we’ve got the instructions you need to do so. Also, if you are curious about what is new in the iOS 9.3 update, we’ve included a run down of those things as well.
How To Download and Install iOS 9.3 Update On iPhone, iPad or iPod
There are two options for updating – over the air or via iTunes. (If you don't see the option available yet, wait an hour or two and check in again. The update is rolling out slowly to everyone around the world starting March 21.)
If you go with over-the-air (OTA), all you need to do is on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch navigate to the Settings app > General > Software Update. You should see the update waiting for you there. Just follow the instructions to download and install.
The other option is to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod to iOS to your PC or Mac and update through iTunes. Just plug your device into your computer, and selecting your device from iTunes. In the Summary pane, click “Check for Update”, then Download and Update.
What’s New In iOS 9.3? Features Include Night Shift, Educator Tools, Health App Updates And More
New Educator Tools – Apple is throwing a ton of new tools into iOS 9.3 for educators to use with students, including the ability to cast information to devices and check in on how students’ work is going on individual iPads. There will also be an option for multiple users on the same iPad who can log in under different names for a personalized experience.
‘Night Shift’ Night Mode – Apple is finally going to make your device friendlier for night use, modifying the colors of the screen to warmer less eye-straining hues as the evening arrives, thereby helping you avoid bluelight related sleep issues.
Fingerprint Lock For Notes App – in iOS 9.3 Apple brings the ability to “lock” the Notes app with a fingerprint or password. Clearly the company realizes we all keep an awful lot of sensitive data in there. Making it possible to secure some of those sensitive notes will be a welcome addition.
Health Dashboard Update – The health dashboard app gets an update in iOS 9.3 that adds sliders to categories like weight, workout or sleep that provide suggestions for apps that may help you reach your goals in these areas. It also integrates your move, exercise and stand data from the Apple watch to simplify your health data tracking to one app.
News App Update – Apple is working to personalize the News app further in iOS 9.3 by adding better-tailored article suggestions in the “For You” section. There are also improvements to story and feed loading speeds.
CarPlay Update – CarPlay gets some additional features in iOS 9.3 as well, including “New” and “For You” sections from Apple Music. It also will add a Nearby feature which allows you to find gas stations, restaurants, parking and more available near you.
