A video has popped up online that purportedly shows the new 4-inch iPhone 6c, but the video comes courtesy of M.I.C. Gadget, a Chinese blog that Mac Rumors claims has “aggregated a number of false leaks and rumors.”
According to M.I.C. Gadget, the video leaked from the Foxconn, and showcases one of the first demo examples of the iPhone 6c.
However, Mac Rumors also pointed out how strikingly similar the iPhone featured in the video looks to a regular iPhone 6s, sharing the same amount of distance between the speaker grille and the headphone jack. The iPhone featured in the video also shares the same display width of the iPhone 6s, measured proportionally to the home button.
There is nothing else in the video that can be used to offer a sense of scale.
Spec and features wise, reports seem to indicate the iPhone 6c will have 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a Touch ID sensor, a 64-bit A8 processor chip (the iPhone 6s and iPad Pro have the A9 and A9X processor chip respectively) and will be available either as a 16GB model or a 64GB model. The iPhone 6c is also rumored to be available in a multitude of different colors, similar to how the iPhone 5c is currently offered to consumers.
The iPhone 6c is rumored to be announced and then subsequently launched during Apple’s March 2016 event, which could also see the announcement of the Apple Watch 2. As the regular iPhone and iPad are typically launched in September, Apple tends to spread its profit-making more evenly over the course of the year.
Most of these rumors stem from the analyses of KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, whose track record regarding correctly predicting Apple’s products is the stuff of legends.
