The iPhone 7 rumor mill is starting to circle around a common motif: the next generation of the iPhone will be the same size as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, but will lack a headphone jack. More iPhone 7 schematics have leaked confirming this, with uSwitch and 9to5Mac publishing CAD drawings that supposedly leaked from Catcher, the supplier Apple subcontracts to provide iPhone chassis.
The leaked concept schematics show a new angle on the iPhone 7’s new camera module that was previously reported on. It seems like the iPhone 7’s camera will stay jutting out of the phone, similar to how the iPhone 6s camera sticks out, and Apple will not be returning to the flush-with-the-body design trait seen with the iPhone SE camera.
The schematics also show Smart Connector ports on the back of the iPhone 7. This lends credence to the much repeated rumor that Apple plans to do away with the headphone jack port. Smart Connector ports, first introduced on the iPad Pro, would allow an iPhone 7 user to listen to music and charge their phone at the same time.
It’s expected that either the iPhone 7 Plus or yet unnamed but more expensive third model will have a dual camera setup. This may be Apple’s plan to differentiate the iPhone 7 from its previous generation, as the leaked schematics show that the iPhone 7 will have the same dimensions as the current flagship iPhone model.
