The iPhone SE’s smaller screen, coupled with the newer battery technology Apple has developed since releasing a 4-inch iPhone as their flagship device, means Apple’s latest released iPhone is doing great in the battery life department, at least according to the anecdotal reviews of a comment thread on the /r/iPhone subreddit.
The iPhone SE battery runtimes are quoted as lower than the iPhone 6s Plus’s on the Apple Compare iPhone webpage, with talk time being quoted as 16 hours to 24 hours respectively, but the user experiences reported in the aforementioned thread are saying quite the opposite.
One redditor said the reality of the iPhone SE’s battery life compared to the iPhone 6s Plus was “Fantastic! I'm coming from a 6s+ and I am blown away by it.” Another redditor even called the iPhone SE’s battery life amazing, saying, “it’s like the phone is powered by a nano nuclear reactor that Apple forgot to mentioned.”
To give you an idea what this means, Apple’s estimated HD video playback time for the two devices are much closer, 13 hours to 14 hours. In other words, the iPhone 6s Plus’s 5.5-inch screen, compared to the iPhone SE’s 4-inch, is much more of a battery hog.
“My last two phones were a Note 5 and iPhone 6 Plus. Prior to that, it was the 5S,” /u/Sensicle said. “This is a great little phone and I'm glad I bought it. No regrets here.”
