The latest update for developer Hello Games' "No Man's Sky" introduces players to trillions of new planets, stars, and much more.

The Worlds II update just makes the massive sci-fi space adventure, which is already quite massive, even bigger. Hello Games noted in its announcement of the update that on top of trillions of new planets, it would also add billions of new solar systems.

No Man's Sky's Worlds II Update

The update comes after the Worlds Part I patch that came last year that made "No Man's Sky's" planets much more detailed and realistic.

The upcoming Worlds II patch also introduces more biomes and terrain types to keep the gaming experience fresh and engaging.

Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray also went into some details regarding the upcoming Worlds II update for "No Man's Sky."

He said that terrain will be much more detailed and far more varied and will come with massive mountains and stunning features, according to The Verge.

Additionally, players will encounter gas giants that are truly epic and are around 10 times larger than our biggest planet. These are content designed for the end-game as exploring them; players will encounter huge storms that rage across the planets' surfaces.

Adding Trillions of Planets and Stars

Murray said that new technology has allowed developers to make oceans several kilometers deep. There is also a new lighting system that makes them look vastly different compared to how they did before.

Probably the most important thing to note about the Worlds II update for "No Man's Sky" is that it will be completely free for players to download.

The new terrain system was also showcased during the trailer for the upcoming patch during Murray's announcement, PCGamer said.

The Hello Games co-founder noted that the upcoming update also makes water react physically to the world around it. Players will be able to see various lifeforms swimming through these bodies of water.

One example that was given was that there are moments when a ship flies past the still ocean and makes the water underneath ripple. Murray added that the new alien creatures that players will be able to discover will be "weirder than ever before."

It was revealed that a lot of the new technology that will be introduced to the game with the Worlds II update comes from learning and hard work on the studio's next game.

This is "Light No Fire," which is keeping the developers quite busy right now, according to the PlayStation Blog.
