Big changes are coming to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Season 2 picks up six months after the Oculus explosion. The Legends are the new Time Masters Council and everyone on the Wave Rider will be a bit different than last season, particularly Sara Lance and Mick Rory, who each lost a loved one last season.
Sara Lance is grieving the loss of her sister, Laurel Lance aka Black Canary, after Damien Darhk murdered her late in Arrow Season 4. Captain Cold died in the Legends of Tomorrow season finale when he sacrificed himself to destroy the Oculus, marking the end of the Time Masters.
During an interview with Collider, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim explained how Sara will be affected by her sister’s death. Last season, White Canary was second in command on the Wave Rider, but this season, it appears she may be preoccupied with seeking revenge for Laurel.
“Sara has a secret agenda that relates to the death of her sister on Arrow last year,” Guggenheim said.
As for Mick, he’ll be faced with the question of whether he even belongs on a superhero team, in light of his villainous past as Captain Cold’s accomplice.
“Rory is basically just trying to white-knuckle his way through the whole experience. He cannot, for the life of himself, figure out what he’s doing, as a member of a superhero team,” Guggenheim said. “This year, we want him to fall in love with someone and be like, ‘What are feelings?!’”
What the Legends don't know is that Captain Cold is still alive, but he won’t be returning to the Wave Rider. He’ll be part of a new incarnation of the Legion of Doom, a supervillain team that also includes Damien Darhk, Malcolm Merlyn and Matt Letscher’s version of Reverse Flash.
We’ll first see Captain Cold in The Flash Season 3 episode 4 , where he’ll fight another Central City villain named Mirror Master. It’ll be interesting to see how Mick and Sara (who had a fling with Captain Cold last season) react when they find out Captain Cold has gone back to his old ways.
Legends of Tomorrow premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
