Marco Polo follows a Venetian boy (Marco Polo), left by his father in the hands of the King of the Mongol Empire, Kublai Khan, in exchange for passage on the Silk Road. Marco Polo begins to learn Mongolian culture and studies martial arts. Kublai Khan sees Marco Polo as an asset as he seeks to conquer and rule the world. In the Season 1 finale, Kublai’s Mongolian Army overpowers Jia Sadao’s troops and defeats the Chinese City of Xiangyang.

In a world replete with greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue and rivalry, Marco Polo, is based on the famed explorer's adventures in Kublai Khan's court in 13th Century China.

Starting off the press release warning “An empire will burn,” Netflix finally set an official release date for Marco Polo Season 2 just last month. Expect 10 new episodes to appear on Netflix July 1st at 3 a.m. EDT. In the meantime, be sure to watch Marco Polo: The One Hundred Eyes special, which released on Netflix in December.
