Marvel’s ‘Luke Cage’ Cast & Spoilers: Mike Colter Says ‘Prepare For Badassery!’[SET PHOTOS]

On September 30, pack a suitcase because we’re moving to Harlem. We may not know too much about what to expect from the upcoming Luke Cage Netflix series, but Mike Colter just told fans to “prepare for badassery” during a panel at Wizard World in St. Louis.

“He’s going to do a lot of badass stuff,” and “Yeah, I’m going to say Sweet Christmas a lot,” Colter added.

We met Luke Cage in Jessica Jones , but he wasn’t up for the superhero life quite yet. Colter explained Luke Cage Season 1 will delve into his origins and how he grows into a hero. “I think we show it in a really cool way,” the actor added.

Luke Cage will also introduce a few new characters from the MCU. First and foremost, ally Misty Knight will be portrayed by Ray Donovan actress Simone Missik. Deadline reports she is actually listed as ‘Missy’ in the breakdown, and is “a woman with a strong sense of justice.” In the comics, she’s Iron Fists’s lover and an NYPD officer. Tony Stark makes her a bionic arm after she loses it during an explosion, so it will be interesting to see how exactly that event occurs, if at all. Frank Whaley (Gotham) will play another friend, Detective Rafael Scarf. Rosario Dawson will reprise her role from Jessica Jones and Daredevil as Claire Temple, also known as The Night Nurse. Luke Cage and Claire Temple used to date in the comics, so it’ll be interesting to see their chemistry following his tumultuous relationship with Jessica Jones, especially after he finds out she killed his wife.

Mahershala Ali ( House of Cards ) has been confirmed as Luke Cage’s main baddie , Cornell Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, described as "a Harlem nightclub owner, [who] will become an unexpected foe in Luke’s life when Stokes’ criminal activities threaten Luke’s world." Deadline has learned another foe, Theo Rossi ( Sons of Anarchy ), has been cast as the well known criminal Shades (aka Alvarez). Born and raised in Harlem, Shades frequently clashes with Iron Fist and Luke Cage. In the series, he’s described as “relentless and menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling.” Alfre Woodward ( Mississippi Grind ) will play Minetta, who according to Deadline is “a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage’s life.” She could be a version of Marvel’s career criminal Black Mariah.

"After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin. Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city - forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury."
