Developer and publisher Behaviour Interactive has announced a new IP that will be out on consoles and PC sometime next year. Meet Your Maker, a first-person base-building and raiding game, is set to launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam sometime in 2023. The game will also have a closed playtest on PC, and you can sign up for it here if you have a Behaviour account. To celebrate the announcement of this new game outside of the developer’s popular Dead by Daylight, below is the first trailer for Meet Your Maker.
Meet Your Maker is essentially a two-fold gaming experience: one that requires you to meticulously build up a perfect death trap of an outpost to protect its valuables, and another that needs you to viciously raid other players’ own death trapped-outposts to loot their valuables. It essentially takes the endgame of survival MMOs like Rust and pits players against each other to see who can be the most creative when it comes to building the perfect outpost and who is the most resilient in challenging them.
In the post-apocalyptic world of Meet Your Maker, you are a Custodian of the Chimera, a living experiment designed and created as a last resort to save life on Earth. Your Chimera needs pure Genetic Material, the most coveted resource in this world, as it is the key to its evolution. These Genetic Materials, and your own, are hidden behind the Outposts, towering structures designed by you and the players as a stronghold to keep other Custodians out.
In Meet Your Maker, players can use a wide variety of both building materials and powerful guards to keep Raiders out of their Outposts. These can be placed in a variety of ways, and guards can even be pathed toward different patrols with an innovative AI recording system. Raiders who die inside your Outposts will become sources of rewards while succeeding in a Raid yourself will grant you Genetic Materials to gain more upgrades and resources to power your own Outposts.
Meet Your Maker is coming to consoles and PC sometime in 2023. The planned release date on Steam mentions December 2023, although it’s unclear if this is a placeholder.
