Capcom just revealed a new set of videos for Monster Hunter Wilds that show off a new mechanic, Focus Mode, and also showcased gameplay footage of the Greatsword weapon.

The major reveal is the video that shows off the game's Focus Mode that explains how it works and how hunters can make use of it to deal more damage to enemies' weak spots. It also lets players target wounds on a monster's body.

The Focus Mode also lets you position your hunter in a way that can block a monster's attack from a direction that you would normally struggle with. This could be a game changer in the franchise especially against monsters that require timely movement.

Another video that was released is a detailed explanation of Basic Mechanics where Capcom gave players a closer look at the new Seikret mount.

This lizardy companion can carry hunters on its back as well as carries a second main weapon you can switch to mid-hunt, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.

The familiar slinger also returns in Monster Hunter Wilds and has now been equipped with a hook attachment.

This lets you collect herbs and other resources from a distance and also interact with various overworld objects without getting too close. Another neat thing about it is that you can use it even when mounted on your Seikret.

The first weapon that got a gameplay showcase for the upcoming Capcom game is the Greatsword that shows off its mighty power. The footage starts by describing the Greatsword as a slow weapon that is great for hit-and-run tactics.

The video then transitions to some battles where the hunter faces off against a Doshaguma. The character is seen doing a barrage of strikes and then taking advantage of Focus Mode to target the monster's weak points, said GamesRadar.

Coming Sometime in 2025

The showcases come ahead of Monster Hunter Wilds' release sometime in 2025 and the Capcom game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The game looks to be leaning into a much heavier hardware requirement with its open world environment and impressive graphics.

On top of these, the latest entry in the franchise has the opportunity to take advantage of various mechanics and features that previous games made popular. It can also learn which hunter classes to prioritize and which monsters to highlight.

Another that the latest Capcom videos confirmed is that Scoutflies are coming back to once again help hunters track down their prey, according to Kotaku.
