Magic: The Gathering announced that its Eldraine Courtside Brawl is officially live in MTG Arena. The event starts today, September 4 and ends September 9. Players who join the event get the chance to try out four preconstructed decks that feature cards from the upcoming Throne of Eldraine set.
In terms of format, Brawl is one-on-one and played as a best of one. It also offers a new format that lets players use one Legendary Creature or Planeswalker along with 59 other standard cards. For this limited event, the four preconstructed decks that players can choose from are:
- Knights’ Charge
- Savage Hunter
- Wild Bounty
- Faerie Schemes
These decks make use of cards throughout Standard, which includes cards from Guilds of Ravnica all the way through the new Throne of Eldraine set. In addition, the decks also have unique cards that aren't found in typical boosters, but continue to be Standard legal and playable.
For two of the decks in particular, they are going to have cards that are different from the tabletop versions. The Savage Hunter deck, for example, is going to have Mask of Immolation and Izoni, Thousand-Eyed. Meanwhile, the Knights’ Charge adds Shivan Dragon and Tajic, Legion’s Edge. All of these cards are added to replace cards in the tabletop decks. This is because the tabletop version is designed for multiplayer play, unlike the event which is 1v1.
What's in store for players who join the brawl event? They can get cards from the upcoming Throne of Eldraine as rewards. Note that players who don't join the brawl are not going to be able to craft any Throne of Eldraine cards until the set is officially released on September 26.
The number of wins needed and corresponding rewards are:
- 1 Win: 4x (playset) of Heraldic Banner and 1,000 XP
- 2 Wins: 4x of Syr Konrad, the Grim
- 3 Wins: 4x of Faerie Vandal
- 4 Wins: 4x of Savvy Hunter
- 5 Wins: 4x of Inspiring Veteran
- 6 Wins: 4x of Order of Midnight
Take note that event rewards are earned only once. You can continue to play until you reach six wins, however you are not going to receive additional event rewards after that. These wins do still count towards any daily wins or weekly wins challenges, and even quest progression.
