NES Classic Edition stock issues haven’t subsided yet, but we’ve got news for our U.S. and international readers that might help secure one of these hot items by the end of 2016. Best Buy and Target are offering in-store and online promotions to get the product into consumers’ hands.
Best Buy originally sent a strange email to interested customers stating that the NES Classic Edition restock would be happening in-store “tomorrow” on Dec. 20 . At the time of writing, It’s Dec. 8, so this error is a complex one. Did Best Buy get the “tomorrow” part wrong, or is Dec. 20 an incorrect date? One can’t be too sure, but, according to known Twitter deal hunter Wario64, clarification has since confirmed the Dec. 20 restock date to be correct. However, it may not hurt to call your local store just in case.
For our international readers, Vooks has provided screenshots of a Twitter conversation with Target Australia that states “the item will be available from approximately 8 a.m. AEDST Monday Dec. 12.” It’s further added that the sale is fully online at the native retail site, and “the item is not secured until the payment is finalized.” That means interested shoppers should have their account logged in and ready for purchase before the time comes. While we can’t get confirmation from these sources for either of the restocks, the information has been widely reported by trusted outlets.
For those who are curious, it doesn’t appear to be an easy task to import an Australian order to the U.S. Aside from a specific collection of items on a designated international site, Target locks its orders by region. While there are always sketchy methods that can be used in manner of providing fake residence and forwarding details, there’s too much that can potentially go wrong to recommend the strategy. At best, it’d help to know someone living in Australia to make an order.
The NES Classic Edition is a $60 games console that comes pre-loaded with 30 beloved Nintendo NES games. Given that perceived value, its manufacturer has struggled to keep up with demand. The product’s been known to sell out in seconds at Amazon, Walmart, Toys R Us and other major stores. With 2016 coming to an end, these restocks may be the last chance to get an NES this year.
