Luke Cage fights like a gentlemen in this latest clip released by Netflix. “Yo,” Luke says to a man demanding money at a mom and pop restaurant. “I don’t like your tone.”
“Excuse me,” the man says. “You’re being disrespectful,” Luke responds. “It’s unnecessary,” he adds. That’s when some guy attempts to knock Luke out, only to literally break every bone in his hand (shown in slow-mo). Another guy raises his gun to Luke and shoots, but Luke swiftly catches the bullet with his bare hands. Watch below.
The best thing about Luke Cage so far is that he never starts the fight. He just lets people attack him, which is awesome change of pace. He just stands there calmly, while some soft composition plays in the background. His technique is so subtle that it’s quite amusing. He’s such an effortless hero--enhanced by the fact he fights in plain clothes, has no mask and is usually completely expressionless. The irony of a bulletproof black man is just too good, especially with Harlem as the backdrop.
