According to Eurogamer Poland, CD Projekt Red is already working on a new concept for a new single-player game that will begin development after Cyberpunk 2077's release.
Currently the Polish developer is focusing all of its energy on the upcoming sci-fi RPG, but it is interesting to know that it is also thinking about new ideas. CDPR's Adam Kiciński also stated that the development team is divided into two separate teams, one each creating games set in The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 worlds.
During the interview with Eurogamer Poland, Kiciński stressed that the next Witcher game will not be titled The Witcher 4. After Cyberpunk 2077's release, a small creative team will sit down together to work on the concept of the new Witcher game, while two separate teams will continue to work on the Cyberpunk 2077 online multiplayer and DLCs.
Even though CD Projekt Red said that The Witcher 3 will be the final Witcher game focused on Geralt of Rivia, the company never stated that it would be the end of The Witcher franchise. And it is quite good to hear that Witcher fans will get to experience all new RPG adventures set in the Witcher world in the future. Given that The Witcher 3 was a massive success, we can only hope for more incredible games from CDPR.
The Witcher 3 released on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2015. The game also recently received a Nintendo Switch port by Saber Interactive. The Switch version of the game received a recent update that improved the performance of the game on the Nintendo Switch and enabled PC and Switch cross-save.
Even though the next Witcher game will take a long time to develop and release, we'll always keep our eyes and ears open for any new information.
