The weird, Atari-like Nidhogg won over tons of fans with its hyper-simplistic fencing gameplay. While seemingly simple, games often devolve into shouting matches and intense gaming sessions. Good news, the sequel was just announced!
Nidhogg 2 has improved its visuals… slightly. Instead of looking like an Atari game, Nidhogg 2 looks more like a SNES game. Gameplay also looks like it has been improved, with ranged attacks like a bow and arrow shown in the trailer.
There are also other new weapons instead of just a sword. From what we can see, there are swords, axes, daggers and the aforementioned bow and arrows. Of course, you can always use your hands if no weapons are nearby. There are also over 10 levels coming this time around, up from the handful of the original Nidhogg.
Nidhogg 2 will be playable at this year’s TwitchCon in San Diego. If you can’t make it, you can still check out gameplay footage from the TwitchCon Indie Stage at 8:15 p.m. EDT on Oct. 1.
Nidhogg 2 will come to PC and “maybe some other consoles” some time in 2017.
So what do you think? Are you excited to try out Nidhogg 2 when it releases next year? Did you play the original Nidhogg? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
