According to LetsPlayVideoGames, the Nintendo NX controllers will support both basic motion control and “advanced vibration force feedback.”
The controllers are designed to phase out the Wii U controllers over the time. According to the report, players who currently own Wii U remotes will be able to use them for some multiplayer titles.
One of the report’s sources describes Nintendo NX controller vibration functionality as “very similar to the Vive controller, in that it alters intensity, pulsing patterns and duration of vibration to mimic the sensation of a range of different movement types. It’s not just one vibration for all situations, there’s a notable difference between the hard abrupt feedback of a sword clash or the softer, longer thud of something like hitting a tennis ball.”
The report states that Just Dance 2017 will support both the new Nintendo NX detachable motion controllers and the Wii Remotes for multiplayer. Just Dance 2017 is rumored to launch alongside the Nintendo NX.
Sources had earlier confirmed to Eurogamer that the Nintendo NX will be a portable console with detachable controllers. When on the move, the Nintendo NX’s screen will feature two controller sections that can be removed at will. When stationary, the Nintendo NX can connect to the TV. The Nintendo NX uses a dock station inside the console’s controller to connect to the console’s processor, NVidia’s Tegra mobile processor.
For physical media, the Nintendo NX will use game cartridges, with 32gb rumored to be Nintendo’s recommended size. The console is slated for a September reveal. Sources claim there will be no backwards compatibility and that the NX will run on an entirely new operating system, not Android as was previously rumored.
