No Man’s Sky was just outfitted with the Foundation Update last week, and a new tweet suggests the team at Hello Games is already hard at work on future content.
The message, posted early Tuesday morning, reads “a busy day at the landing pad.” Below the words is a fan-made planet cycle of a ship landing at a base. The incomplete sentence doesn’t reveal much, but the implication is that things are busy at the No Man’s Sky studio.
In most cases such a baseless tweet might not be considered news, but this recent Twitter activity is somewhat atypical of Hello Games’ past silent style. In the months leading up to the Foundation Update’s release, all social media for the company and its programmers was suspiciously silent. After nearly 100 days without communication, speculation stirred that the developer had possibly closed its offices.
Now that the significant patch is finally live and the game’s restless community has calmed down, there’s a sense that Hello may try to be a bit more transparent about the goings on in development. Having just overcome one of the most controversial product launches of recent industry history, it appears the prior culture of radio silence is starting to wane. One fan in particular replied “awesome. Now keep talking to us.” Given the negativity that was allowed to fester over the last update gap, we hope that’s the plan.
No Man’s Sky ’s Foundation update chiefly includes base building and the recruitment of alien partners to collect resources. True to its name, it’s intended to lay the foundation for even more DLC to come. Leaks suggest land vehicles and a new NPC race are possibly in the works.
No Man’s Sky is available now on PS4 and PC.
