Another new Pokémon Go event has launched just in time for Valentine’s Day, and to celebrate, there will be increased spawns of Chansey and Luvdisc as well as increased stardust when they're captured.
Niantic announced the event via its Twitter account and confirmed the event starts on Feb. 13 and ends Feb. 15. The exact times of the event have yet to be announced, but past events have started on the afternoon and end on the morning of the date.
Here’s the official Pokémon Go announcement:
This new Pokémon Go event will reward trainers with 3x Stardust, that's from 100 to 300, for the capture of both Luvdisc and Chansey.
Luvdisc was included way back when Gen 3 was first introduced, but its spawn rate was relatively low. With the Valentine’s Day event in Pokémon Go, trainers will have plenty of opportunities to fill up their Pokedexes. The increased Chansey rate can also help fill the Pokedex and earn trainers enough candy to evolve it into a Blissey.
However, the biggest prize of the new Pokémon Go Valentine’s Day event is the inclusion of Shiny Luvdisc to the popular mobile game. In fact, some trainers have already showed off their lucky captures. Players will want to encounter every Luvdisc they find because, like other Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Go, they won’t appear as such unless you attempt to catch it.
Shiny Luvdisc’s inclusion brings the Shiny count in Pokémon Go to 20, which includes the Magikarp, Shuppet, Duskull, Aron, Swablu, Pikachu, Sableye, Mawile, Absol and the Snorunt line.
Once the official timing of the end of the Pokémon Go Valentine’s Day event is confirmed, we will update the story. In the meantime, let us know what you think of this latest update to Pokémon Go and whether you already caught a Shiny Luvdisc in the comments section below.
