In the upcoming Season 7 of Pretty Little Liars, Alison, Aria, Emily and Spencer will go on a crusade to save their friend, Hanna, who has been kidnapped by a new “Uber A.” But does a recent promo picture reveal they won’t be successful?
The image, which was uploaded to social media Tuesday, features Alison, Aria, Emily and Spencer, but Hanna is conspicuously missing. The caption reads “How far will they go to save Hanna?”
We know from a previously released teaser trailer that the Liars may have to deal with hiding a murder; however, most details about Hanna’s fate remain fuzzy. We also know Alison was originally presumed dead early in the series and was missing from most promotional material, even after she returned in Season 5. This could indicate that actress Ashley Benson may play a less central role in Season 7, similar to how actress Sasha Pieterse executed her character largely through mentions and flashbacks throughout most of the series.
Meanwhile, actor Drew Van Acker will return to Pretty Little Liars during Season 7, Entertainment Weekly reported Monday. The actor, who plays Alison’s brother, Jason DiLaurentis, was missing from the second half of Season 6, under the premise that Jason was busy running the Carissimi Group in Charlotte’s absence and eventual demise. Now that we know Alison's new husband is an adversary who married her to get control of the company and have her committed, Jason’s presence is pretty vital. It remains to be seen exactly how Jason will be involved in the coming season.
Pretty Little Liars will return to Freeform June 21 at 8 p.m. EDT.
