Prey 2 looked and sounded so cool when it was announced back in 2011. Fast forward a few years, and Bethesda was officially announcing that the game was dead. However, recent website updates may hint otherwise.
The websites prey2.com and prey3.com have changed to redirect to a hidden Facebook page. The URL for the page is facebook.com/prey2. Why would these sites get updated if there was no announcement coming?
As for development news, leaked emails from 2013 suggested that Arkane Austin would be making Prey 2. The Austin branch of the Dishonored development studio has publicly stated a number of times they are not developing Prey 2, despite the leaked emails.
Generally, if games are in development for a long time, the end result differs greatly from what was originally announced. If this is the case here, it’s interesting Bethesda still seems intent on using the Prey 2 name. The original Prey was released a decade ago this July, so it’s not like the brand has much value to it. Then again, some name recognition is probably better than none at all.
Bethesda will be hosting their own E3 event at 10 p.m. EDT on June 12 in Los Angeles. If a Prey 2 announcement is coming, it will likely be during this event. If you cannot make it in person, Bethesda will be livestreaming the event on Twitch.
