John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place" film series has been a massive hit, and while fans have to wait longer for the third and final film, those who want to enjoy it in video game form can do so.

The focus of today's review roundup takes staying silent to a whole new level.

Here's what gamers have to say about A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead.

'A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead'

Released on October 17, 2024, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a survival horror game features an untold original story set in the events of the "A Quiet Place" film series. The game is developed by Stormind Games and published by Saber Interactive.

Spoiler alert up ahead! The player takes on the role of Alex Taylor, who must ensure her survival after she finds out she is pregnant with her boyfriend's child.

That, of course, is easier said than done thanks to the blind creatures that are killing people who make noise left and right.

What makes the game truly immersive is that the player has the option to turn on "Microphone Noise Detection" setting. When this feature is on, the creatures will react to whatever noise you make via a connected microphone or headset.

'Mostly Positive' Reviews on Steam

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead has more than 700 user reviews on Steam, as of press time, which have been generally categorized as "Mostly Positive."

"Played this game with microphone open to game and I have to say it was totally worth it," user Hodas said in a Steam review. "Made some moments in game very interesting and hectic as I am usually yelling my way through jump scares."

"Honestly, I'm surprised at the Mostly Positive reviews of this game," user AuronSpectre said in a separate review. "The first hour is an absolute banger. The sound design, the creature, the fear/anxiety of the world-building in incredibly well done."

"However, after that, the next 6+ hours are gruellingly [sic] monotonous and repetitive," AuronSpectre added. "The game uses the same Gameplay loop of restricting the players pacing to a snail's pace, while avoiding an incredibly sensitive and - often times - inaccurate AI creature."

3.6 Stars on Google Reviews

The game seems to be having mixed reactions as well over in Google Reviews, where it has a 3.6-star rating as of writing.

"Have been playing for a couple of hours now, reminds me of playing Alien Isolation," Google user Ian Pratt said in a review. "You can hear the creature close by, but you have to be really quiet to avoid getting caught."

"Really good game so far, graphics are great, audio really makes you think and slow down instead of rushing," the Google user added.

"The enemy AI is inconsistent, the writing is lazy, the coding is mid, the gameplay is linear, the player is not respected, the universe isn't either," Matthias Joseph said in a separate Google review.
