Any list of the greatest survival horror games of all time will never be complete without Silent Hill 2. Originally released in 2001, fans have long been clamoring for a remaster or remake of the game for modern consoles.
Fans now got their wish with the release of the remake October 8.

'Silent Hill 2' Remake
The remake of Silent Hill 2 is developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami. It features the same story from the original game, which follows the journey of the main character, James Sunderland, as he returns to the town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his dead wife.
When it comes to changes from the original game, players can expect an overhauled combat system in the remake. In addition to this, the third-person camera system has also been modernized.
'Overwhelmingly Positive' Reviews on Steam
The Silent Hill 2 remake has more than 12,000 user reviews on Steam as of press time. The platform has categorized these reviews as "Overwhelmingly Positive."
"A good remake that feels close to a 1:1 recreation of the original game (altered scenes and and maybe some changes here and there)," Steam user Spooky Zereul MYTH4EVER said in a review. "Beautiful visuals, excellent sound design, great voice acting and some tense horror blend this game into an absolutely exceptional horror experience and a fine entry for Silent Hill."
"As someone who has played the original, this game captures the essence of the psychological horror that is Silent Hill 2," user jessickahavok said in a separate review.
"I am impressed with how easy it is for me to immerse myself into the environment," jessickahavok added. "I have no complaints!"
4.7 Stars on Google Reviews
The remake is receiving a lot of good feedback on Google Reviews as well. The game, as of writing, holds a rating of 4.7 stars.
"This is my favorite game of all time and to see it remade has been a dream come true," Google user Arnie Albie said in a review. "I was nervous about how Bloober would do with it but it's amazing."
"Absolutely magnificent," Google user Vinny X said of the game in a review.
"Being careful to stay faithful with a modern twist creates a unique win/win situation in this stunning remake," Vinny X added. "I sincerely hope we get more like this."
