Looks like it’s another good week in Red Dead Online for the Naturalist as there’s some Legendary Bucks wandering in the wilds. In the south of The Heartlands just by the Flat Iron Lake there is the aggressive Legendary Mud Runner Buck, whose piebald coat is what sets it apart from the more common bucks. It’s not the only thing arriving in the game as in the Aurora Basin there is the vigilant and fleet footed Legendary Snow Buck.
Naturalists get rewarded by Harriet if they can photograph these bucks, and maybe even track, sedate, and take a sample. Get 50% more XP, along with Role XP, when you help Harriet. Of course, Gus is also hoping you go to him and instead hunt and skin the beasts for some rewards. He is going to buy the carcasses and pelts from you for 50% more RDO$. Gus is also going to help you craft either the Snow Coat or Mud Runner Coat.
Here’s a good tip, the Legendary Bucks are said to be very active during daylight and in dry weather.
So what else is new this week? There’s a new Free Roam Event where all players are invited to take photographs of animals in their natural habitats. Players will compete with other photographers to see who gets the highest number of points for their shots. Outscore other players by photographing as many different animals as possible and as closely as you can. Of course, keep in mind to ensure the quality of your composition. The winner gets generous RDO$ and XP payouts. The best individual photograph taken also earns a reward.
For those who think they are an expert gunslinger, the Hardcore Series is a good way to test that reputation. This is because in this event variation there are no consumables and no Ability Cards. There’s going to be a Featured Series tile for the occasional Hardcore Series in the weeks ahead. This week, the different Hardcore event variations include Hostile Territory, Most Wanted, Overrun, and Spoils of War.
Over at the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue, there are new Emotes which include Check the Time, Coin Bite, Cougar Snarl, Hypnotize, Prayer, Shrug, and Sniff.
For this week as well, finishing any Free Roam Event pays out RDO$100 along with a Reward for 5,000 Character XP. There is also the newly added Wildlife Photographer Fee Roam Event. In addition, taking a photo using the Advanced Camera rewards players with RDO$100.
There’s a lot of exciting things for Naturalists this week. Harriet’s Shop is offering 40% discount on all tonics. Over at Gus’ Store, players can take advantage of a 30% off discount on all craftable Coats and 30% off all trinkets.
