The year 2020 has been a blast for Resident Evil fans, and it seems that 2021 isn't going to be any less exciting either. Earlier this year, fans received Resident Evil 3: Remake that starred Jill Valentine. Now, Capcom announced at Tokyo Game Show that it is also working on a CG Resident Evil animated series called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, set to release on Netflix in 2021.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will feature the series' two most iconic characters, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Capcom also shared a short trailer that shows the company is taking a more horror-thriller route for the CG series, instead of an action-centric approach. The trailer also shows both Leon and Claire at different locations, with Claire exploring a dark room before she finds a dead body on a couch. The scene then switches to Leon, who can be seen saving a man from an infected. It seems that both Leon and Claire will be exploring different locations of Raccoon City separately in a quest to uncover some secrets. While the show's plot is still unclear, fans should expect to learn more in the future.
Infinite Darkness isn't the only project that Capcom currently has in the works. The company is also working on a Resident Evil live-action TV show, which is produced by Constantin Film. Constantin Film has also produced previous Resident Evil films, including Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Resident Evil: Retribution, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Furthermore, Infinite Darkness is also not the first CG project that the Resident Evil franchise has under its belt. Previously, the series also delivered three CG movies, including Degeneration, Damnation, and Vendetta.
Capcom is also currently working on Resident Evil: Village, the eighth installment in the long-running Resident Evil video game series. The game is set after the event of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard and stars Biohazard protagonist Ethan Winters. Resident Evil: Village is scheduled to release in 2021.
