Capcom announced Resident Evil 8 a few months back at the PlayStation 5 reveal event. The announcement trailer did not include a lot gameplay elements, but for Resident Evil fans, the time to learn more is just around the corner. Earlier today, Capcom's official Twitter account confirmed that Resident Evil 8 will be a part of the Tokyo Game Show event. Capcom also apologized for keeping information on Resident Evil 8 minimal until now, leaving fans to speculate.
Resident Evil 8 Village will be a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. Fans will see the return of Ethan Winters as the protagonist, and the first-person perspective also makes a return. The announcement trailer for Resident Evil 8 also gave us a brief look at Chris Redfield, which was an incredibly exciting moment for longtime Resident Evil fans.
Chris looks bigger and meaner this time, unlike his skinnier version in the previous games. Chris' ever-changing body type has become a meme in the Resident Evil community, but fans are still excited to see his return. However, this time we hope that Chris will appear in the game early on, instead of coming in at the end.
Capcom was also very vague with the tweet, leaving us to wonder if we'll get to see a few screenshots, an extended gameplay trailer, or even receive a surprise Resident Evil 8 demo. Some rumors also seem to suggest that a VR version of Resident Evil will be announced, so it'll be great to see if that receives an official confirmation as well. Resident Evil fans can watch the Tokyo Game Show on Sunday, September 27 to get all the news and updates first.
On a similar note, there have been leaks that a Resident Evil 4 Remake will be releasing in 2022, but currently, the game's development is in a worrying position. However, it's good to see that Resident Evil 8 isn't facing any such issues.
Resident Evil 8 Village is releasing in 2021 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
