The Seek CompactPRO is not cheap, but it is pretty freaking cool. Available for both iOS and Android smartphones, the Seek CompactPRO plugs into either the Micro-USB or Lightning Cable port and gives your phone thermal-imaging abilities.
How much thermal-imaging ability, you ask? To the tune of 32,000 individual thermal pixels, in both the daytime and nighttime. The Seek CompactPRO can detect temperatures from -40F to 626F from afar.
Unfortunately, the Seek CompactPRO can’t see through glass. That means if you want to use it to drive through fog, you would have to mount it on the outside of your car, and seeing as it’s not waterproof, it’s bad news bears all around.
If you have the money to spare for the smartphone accessory though, there are two options: the regular version, or the extended range version. The extended range model has the same clarity and resolution but is able to focus better and boasts twice the zoom.
The extended version currently sells for $261.27 for the Android version, while the iPhone model is a little bit pricier at $294.98. If you’d like to save a little cash, the regular model for Android is selling for $213.31 while the iPhone version is $205.12.
