Silent Hill 2 Remake

Anticipation for the remake of Silent Hill 2 is definitely ramping up as the release date gets closer and closer. It may have been 23 years since the original game was released, but the pull of the game and the franchise itself cannot be denied.

The remake is expected to follow the events of the original game. It will focus on the story of James Sunderland, who returns to Silent Hill after receiving a letter from Mary, his deceased wife. There, he will discover that Silent Hill is no longer the place from his memories.

Instead, it is a dark and gloomy place filled with monsters and other horrors that are waiting to unfold.

The remake will be released for the PlayStation 5 and Windows only.

What to Expect

Bits and pieces of the game have been revealed over time leading up to its release on October 8. A report by GameSpot notes that Bloober Team, the developer of the game, has repeatedly said that the original Silent Hill 2 is "not a combat-oriented game."

"The same can be said for its remake, which improves upon combat by making things a bit more fluid and adding an extremely helpful dodge button and an aiming reticle but does not necessarily overhaul the overall experience," GameSpot notes.

It has also been previous reported that producer Motoi Okamoto said that the developers said no to changes suggested by those who worked on the original game. This may mean that the remake will stay very true to the original, flaws and all.
