Sims 4: Cats & Dogs arrives in November. As one of the most anticipated expansions for the Sims 4, expectations are high, especially when the pack is compared against the beloved pets from Sims 3 and Sims 2. So what elements will be different this time? What elements are the same? What new features will be available? We’ve collected every tidbit The Sims team has spoken about on social media below.
-There are other animals in the pack, including raccoons and foxes too (the latter can be added to a family in Create-A-Pet).
-Second preset LGBT couple in Sims history (first in Sims 4) featured in Cats & Dogs.
- Pets will not be playable, but basically this only means you can't select them and click 'go here.' For more on what 'not playable' means, check out Prodcuer Grant Rodiek's explanation. There also will not be a cheat to make them playable.
-Multiple new roof types: Octagonal roofs have been confirmed.
-Why is the pack being released on a Friday? “This is becoming the standard for all releases that have a physical disc to make it available the same day for everyone,” SimGuruDrake said.
-You'll see more cat and dog breeds in the months to come!
-You can train your pets (maybe pest control and hopefully not to destroy the furniture).
-Pets will be able to breed, but won’t do so on their own.
-Pets will age
-Pets do not have jobs.
-1 pet counts as 1 Sim for household
-There are ghost pets :)
-No boathouses, but there are waterfront properties in the new world coming with Cats & Dogs.
-There are puppies and kittens that can be modified in CAP (Create-A-Pet)
-New Sims traits to go with pets.
-If you decide on a certain breed, you can still customize fur and other looks.
-Pets can find things in the world and bring them to you.
-The color wheel you see has been created exclusively for TS4 Cats & Dogs Create-A-Pet feature. Not available for Create-A-Sim.
-Large breeds, such as the Great Dane, are available, but there are size limitations.
-Own a pet hospital, be the veterinarian, and do the surgery. It’s kind of like a vamped version of owning a restaurant.
-New minimum requirements. RAM: Now you need at least 4GB RAM instead of 2GB RAM. OS: If you have Windows 7, you can only play with 64bit OS version instead of 32bit.
