South Park: The Fractured But Whole significantly expands on the class system introduced in The Stick of Truth, this time offering 10 class options instead of four, each based on a different type of superhero ability. Each class has three attacks and an Ultimate. Over the course of the campaign, Cartman will expand on the player’s origin story, adding another class to your repertoire and allowing you to mix-and-match attacks from various classes.
Choosing your next class can be an agonizing decision. While Cartman gives you enough information to understand the basic strengths and weaknesses, you don’t learn the details of the available attacks until after making your selection. It’s frustrating, but can be undone at any time: revisit Cartman in his basement to change classes.
Or just consult our guide to the classes of South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
A few things to know first.
Each attack is one of three types: Brawn, Brains or Spunk. These three attributes can be modified with DNA, a type of upgrade added midway through the campaign. Swapping out DNA includes a helpful chart showing how different DNA strands will increase or reduce each of your equipped attacks.
Most attacks deal damage, but there are a lot of other status effects:
Slow - Reduce enemy movement by one space for three turns
Chill - Skips enemy’s next turn
Shock - Damage to enemy at end of their next turn, plus splash damage to adjoining enemies
Burning - Damage to enemy for next three turns
Grossed Out - Damages characters at end of next turn, great vomiting SFX
Protection - Extra health bar that absorbs damage
Bleeding - Damages enemies for four turns
Confused - Enemy will attack nearest ally for two turns (or until damaged)
Charmed - Causes target to switch sides for turns (or until damaged)
Enraged - Enemy will only attack character that enraged them
Blocking - Protects against all damage for one turn
Invisible - Character can’t be targeted during next turn
Bear in mind there are even more considerations than an attack’s Type and status effects. Since combat in The Fractured But Whole relies so much on tactical spacing, an attack’s range or pattern on the grid will always be the most important consideration. You can see the attacks’ grid patterns in the screenshot included for every Class. Finally, while damage from attacks varies based on your Artifacts and DNA, we’ll loosely categorize their damage potential into “Loads,” “Mid” and “Wee.”
With all that in mind, check out every attack in South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole Review: Marvel Polish, DC Inspiration
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a polished and improved sequel to The Stick of Truth, but we're still ambivalent about the Marvel Cinematic Universe parody angle.
