Spiders employees secured an agreement for higher wages and new remote working policies after threatening to go on strke. Spiders Studio

Staff members at Spiders Studio have been able to secure higher wages as well as better remote work policies following strike negotiations with the company's management.

Management released a statement, saying that it stood by its previous claim that comments made by its workers regarding poor conditions at work were "false and defamatory."

This came before they announced that the studio negotiated new pay raises and other improved quality-of-life policies with employees.

Furthermore, the company agreed to the demands of the workers with the Video Game Workers Union (STJV). These included increased salaries, which involves an 11% boost starting in September 2024, retroactive to Apr. 1, 2024.

This particular amount was the one that was proposed by studio management and "aligned" with the requests of the union delegation. This means that the average Spiders employee will see a 3% wage increase, according to Game Developer.

The studio's employees will also benefit from a new "telework company agreement project" that aims to improve its remote working policies. Management wrote that the studio will "establish rules" around remote work that are "in line with practices already in place."

Additionally, Spiders will conduct an audit on working conditions and the company environment to benefit workers.

The company's leadership said that management relies on everyone's sense of responsibility to ensure that the quality of dialogue it values and has maintained is "preserved in the future."

The latest agreement between management and staff comes as the former has consistently discussed negotiations with representatives for several months now.

However, the situation apparently became a standstill due to "radical positions expressed by the STJV," said WCCFTech.

Salary and Working Conditions

Despite the agreement with the wages for employees, the salaries for 2025 will be negotiated starting at the end of the year.

The company's management also said that all Spiders workers are "on permanent contracts and that the studio experienced growth in its workforce in 2023."

The situation between Spiders management and workers began after 44 staff members out of the studio's 95 workers signed the Spiders Action Committee letter on Aug. 27, 2024.

They threatened to go on strike on Sept. 2, 2024, and Sept. 3, 2024, in front of the company's offices as well as online on a Minecraft server that was set up for it.

The letter follows an allegedly failed meeting attempt with the company's head, CEO Anne Devouassoux, on Aug. 23, 2024. The committee noted that the development follows a strike that was previously held in January 2024.
