EA has detailed the first paid DLC for Star Wars Battlefront. Called Outer Rim, the DLC will see players fight across new maps, use new heroes and villains, and play a new game mode.
The new maps will feature Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine and the factories on Sullust. No specific details about these maps were released, but seeing as how they take place indoors, expect these maps to only work with the smaller game modes. That means these new maps will not work on Walker Assault, Supremacy, or Turning Point.
As for the new hero and villain coming to Star Wars Battlefront, both are known sharpshooting experts. The hero is Nien Nunb, the Sullustan smuggler turned Rebel pilot. Nunb is most prominently seen in Star Wars Episode VI where he acts as co-pilot for Lando Calrissian.
The villain is the controversial Greedo. While true fans know that Han shot first, a whole generation of Star Wars fans have been deceived into thinking that Greedo is just a lowly bounty hunter for Jabba the Hutt. Oh yeah, Greedo was also a childhood pal of Darth Vader, but that’s only if you can remember the details of the fever dream that is Star Wars Episode I.
The new game mode coming in the Outer Rim DLC is called Extraction. Based on the description given by EA, Extraction sounds like it will be similar to Capture the Flag, but if only the Rebel team is trying to capture something while the Empire plays defense the entire time.
Additionally, there will be two new guns. The Relby V-10 rifle and the DT-12 blaster pistol will be added to the Battlefront arsenal along with the Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade and Adrenaline Stim Star Cards.
EA and DICE have yet to announce a price for the DLC, or when the new content will be made available. Gamers can still buy a Season Pass, which will include all future DLC content for one price.
So what do you think? Are you excited to try out the new maps and game mode in Star Wars Battlefront? Are you disappointed by the inclusion of Nien Nunb over other iconic characters like Chewbacca? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
