Unlike Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, currently trapped in a tangle of reshoots and troubling rumors after a promising trailer, we know virtually nothing about Star Wars: Episode 8. But while nothing official has come out of the Episode 8 production (other than a handful of images from the set), there are plenty of rumors. Now one of the more reliable leakers has provided IMDb forum users with new details from the script of Star Wars: Episode 8, directly addressing the potential and long-rumored death of another major Star Wars character.

Mr_Ghostface_Lives took to IMDb the summer before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and accurately described a number of scenes from the movie. After posting several spoilers from the Episode 8 script, the leaker stuck around to answer a few questions.

Here’s Ghostface on General Leia’s role in the movie:

“So yes, she uses the Force in Episode VIII, which I think is a phenomenally good move. It’s just too bad that they’re minimising her part again. She’s absent for most of the movie after the opening sequence.”

This corroborates earlier leaks that suggested General Leia’s military leadership would largely be supplanted by Laura Dern’s character, who takes over control of the Resistance. But will Star Wars: Episode 8 see the death of Leia, another persistent rumor?

“As far as I know she is in Episode IX. She doesn’t die in the script for Episode VIII as it stands,” Ghostface said.

So while it looks like the rumors of Leia’s reduced role in Star Wars: Episode 8 is accurate to the script, they won’t be cutting her from the series entirely.
