'Star Wars: Episode 8' Title: Leaks Fail To Uncover What Daisy Ridley Has Known For Months

Appearing on the My Dad Wrote A Porno podcast, Daisy Ridley weathered several Star Wars: Episode 8 questions, dodging any spoilers and keeping it vague. But the most interesting answer came when Ridley was asked about the subtitle of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

"I heard a title, but I don't know if it's going to be that. I really don't know much about anything. I heard the title a long time ago before we started filming, and so I feel some things have slightly tweaked during production. It's going to be a while before it's released I imagine."

So they’ve had a title since before shooting, but it’s changed during the course of production. Plus, according to Ridley, we have a while to wait yet before the title is released.

Which makes sense, there’s not much reason to unveil the Star Wars: Episode VIII subtitle until after (or with?) the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. For now Disney is laser-focused on Rogue One, doing their best to overcome a troubled reshoot process and establish the non-Episode A Star Wars Story anthology entries as event movies on the same scale as the ongoing Skywalker family melodrama.

Though less so than with The Force Awakens (so far), the production of Episode 8 was dogged by leaks, with every new shooting location the focus of photographic scrutiny worthy of a Bigfoot sighting. Yet the title remains a well-guarded secret, its evolution witnessed by only a handful of people.
