Channeling Joan Jett, Netflix has released another trailer featuring Krysten Ritter (Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23) for their new upcoming show, Jessica Jones, available to watch on Netflix as soon as Nov. 20.
With the smashing success of Daredevil (released April 2015), Jessica Jones has a lot to live up to as a Marvel-Netflix partnership.
Jones operates her own detective agency, Alias Investigations, in the show. She opened the detective agency after her retirement from being the superheroine Jewel due to a particularly nasty experience she had with the some show’s antagonist, The Purple Man.
David Tennant (Doctor Who) will be playing The Purple Man for the Netflix drama, a super villain with the power of exuding a pheromone that allows him to control anybody physically around him. The Purple Man can make someone want to do something they truly don’t want to, which will play a significant role as Jones get mind controlled by The Purple Man, at least in the comic books. This leads to a situation where The Avengers don’t recognize her and beat her to an inch of life.
Mike Colter (The Good Wife) will be playing the iconic Luke Cage, the man with the unbreakable skin, on the show. Cage is Jones is crime fighting partner and eventual partner.
Created in 2001, the character of Jessica Jones received her superhero powers after a deadly car crash that killed her family while exposing her to radioactive chemicals at the same time. After being in a coma for several months, Jones woke up to find herself with the ability to fly and being super strong.
Oh, and that she could now withstand some significant punishment. After attempting to be the superheroine Jewel, she had a change of heart and decided to retire the moniker before opening up her detective agency, as aforementioned.
A list of episode titles were leaked back in August and they hint toward what could be some good TV. Nov. 20 cannot come soon enough.
