Wow, we’ve got a whopper of a Nintendo NX news story for you today: A new rumor on Dual Pixels purports to reveal some major, critical details about Nintendo’s upcoming console, widely believed to be coming out later this year. Standard disclaimers apply: It’s a rumor, we have no idea of knowing if it’s true. But these rumors will be enough to get your juices flowing… even if they may, ultimately, be too good to be true.
Nintendo NX Rumors: Major Features And Details Possibly Leaked
So here’s the low-down on the rumors, which again were dug up by Dual Pixels: The site’s source doesn’t know too many of the details on the hardware, but has inside info on some of the backend features. Here we go: According to the site, the Nintendo NX has wireless HDMI (based on the Wii U’s off-TV streaming tech), making it easy to plug-and-play it anywhere. The system can supposedly sync with “everything” via Bluetooth, and can even get calls and text messages.
Here are the really juicy parts of the Nintendo NX rumors: Dual Pixels’ source states that the system is as powerful as the Xbox One (which jives with previous rumors that it’s a little weaker than the PS4). More significantly, the somewhat dubious report claims that the system has the same fundamental architecture as the PS4 and Xbox One, and that games from those systems can run on Nintendo NX with “near-zero modification to the original source code,” making development extremely easy. This news would explain both the very late release of dev kits for the Nintendo NX and WSJ’s vague report that the Nintendo NX might have crossplay with the PS4 and even smartphones. The system is generally supposed to have a very accessible OS, called NintendOS, and focuses on ease of use and accessibility.
So there are the latest Nintendo NX rumors. They are very exciting—possibly too exciting. That’s a lot of promise. And it’s just a rumor—coming from someone who has been correct about rumors before, sure, but it’s still just a rumor, and I can’t state that enough. And it can’t be proven, or refuted, at this time. Nevertheless, it’s quite tantalizing.
What do you think? Do you give any credence to the rumors?
