Bad news for the Shenmue 3 Slacker Backers who were expecting to get more than just a copy of the game for their big donation.
YS Net, the developers on Shenmue 3, asked its Kickstarter backers how they felt about making their exclusive rewards available to those who donated to their Slacker Backer campaign via PayPal. YS Net shared the results of the poll on Jan. 4. Out of the15,000 of the 68,000 Kickstarter backers who voted, 4,009 people said they did not want to share the Kickstarter rewards with PayPal donators, 4,670 were in favor of sharing the rewards, and 6,432 didn’t care either way.
The Shenmue 3 developers ultimately decided they the Kickstarter rewards would remain exclusive to those who backed the project. The problem with the decision is the rewards were offered in the Slacker Backer campaign already and promised to PayPal donators. It’s also unclear what donations tiers are “exclusive” to Kickstarter backers.
Shenmue 3’s Kickstarter backers have since flooded the project with comments regarding the poll.
