The first Rick and Morty game and its balloon-popping action didn’t exactly give Fallout 4 a run for its money, but a newly announced Rick and Morty game coming to iOS and Android poses a direct challenge to another beloved franchise. Rick and Morty are aping Pokémon with Pocket Mortys and you’ll be able to pit your pocket Mortys against each other starting Jan. 14, way ahead of Pokémon Z’s unannounced release date.
The announcement of the new Adult Swim Games’ Rick and Morty game for Android and iOS came from the Twitter accounts of Rick and Morty co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon.

The new Rick and Morty Pokémon rip-off will be free, so long as you don’t live in a slice of the multiverse where Dan Harmon’s jokes come true:
It's free but you can buy little 90 dollar crackers to keep your Morty from dying! Just kidding I only know it's FUN https://t.co/8a6bFIOxdc

Gameplay seems to be a simplified version of the classic Pokémon combat, complete with an SNES JRPG-like overworld (love those pocket Mortys trailing Rick).
Pocket Mortys will make the long wait for Rick and Morty Season 3 a little more bearable. Unless you think playing games on your phone is for goons. Then, you’ll just have to rewatch every Rick and Morty Season 2 episode again and again with the rest of us Pokémon luddites.
