A brand new trailer for 2016 relaunch of The X-Files has arrived. This is our best look yet at the six new X-Files episodes, including glimpses of aliens, monsters, icky goo babies, and the return of the nefarious Cigarette Smoking Man. But the real showstopper is that opening shot, as a flying saucer UFO plows into the Earth, throwing up dirt and showing us what The X-Files could never afford before.

While The X-Files had some landmark special effects back in the day (including some delightfully disgusting gore), this UFO crash is unlike anything the series was ever able to achieve. Hell, it looks better than a lot of the special effects in The X-Files movie.
The X-Files returns to TV on Jan. 24.
