I hate what mobile tower defense games have begun. Clash of Clans and all its knockoffs have flooded the app market with their freemium model, making it difficult for anything else to have a chance. There have been a few unique mobile tower defense games; I still love War Tortoise , but most tower defense games use the same formula. Set up some buildings, collect resources and attack enemy bases. Transformers: Earth Wars is mostly the same, with a little nostalgic twist.
Transformers: Earth Wars lets you take control of either the Autobots, the good guys, or the Decepticons, the bad guys. It’s got all your favorite 80s robots, from Grimlock to Soundwave. Here are some tips to get you started collecting Energon and kicking robot butt.
Save Up Your Coins- Cyber Coins are T:EW’s premium currency and can be used to speed up production on your base or to purchase more Transformers. I recommend stockpiling these to buy robots; it’s better to just wait the few minutes until your upgrades done rather than wasting your hard earned currency.
Complete Missions- That little box on the top of your screen when you are in base is filled with achievements that when completed give you Cyber Coins. Don’t forget to check on it and collect whatever is in there.
Battle As Much As You Can- Losing a fight still gives you experience and rewards; you just have to wait until your bots are ready again. Two minutes is no big deal to wait, and you’ll be happy with that extra Energon and extra levels.
Fight Other Players- The regular missions earn you powerful bots, but get much harder in difficulty as you move through the story. If you're struggling to get past certain levels, it might be best to just fight PVP until you get strong enough. Fight in PVP whenever you can, your bots will start crunching harder opponents in no time.
Upgrades- Whenever a building needs less than five minutes to upgrade, you can finish it without spending any Cyber Coins. Shuttle upgrades are super important; they allow you to bring more of your team into battle. When bots reach max level they can be upgraded to the next star level, don’t forget to do that.
Balancing Your Team- Getting a well-rounded team in battle is important. For the first few missions try to use at least two warriors and one air strike. Once you unlock Optimus Prime, use him as the center of your team. Defend him with tanks and support him with long range strikes.
What Does This Bot Do? - There are a lot of Transformers in this game and most of them have unique weapons and abilities. Don’t be afraid to take an Autobot or Decepticon that you just earned with your Cyber Coins into battle. You can also click the question mark in the “Team” menu to figure out how strong, what class and what range your bots have.
Special Attacks- Finding out when to use your special abilities. Optimus lets you charge right in and your planes can bomb from afar. If you get a special ability from the Space Bridge instead of a bot, save it because you never know when you’ll need it.
Kill the Mortars- Try to kill the mortars as quickly as possible, especially when you’re just starting out. They will destroy your whole team within seconds if left unattended. On some maps, I like to use the Aerial Bombardment special ability to clear them out before they wipe me out.
