Recently, AesthaticGamer tweeted that Konami is planning to develop not one, but two Silent Hill games. Although rumors like this should be taken with a grain of salt, it is worth noting that AesthaticGamer's previous tweets about Resident Evil 7 Not a Hero DLC and Resident Evil 3 Remake were quite accurate. The tweet claims that two years ago, Konami pitched their ideas for new Silent Hill games to several developers. They wanted the first game to be a soft reboot and the second to be an episodic Telltale/Until Dawn-style game.
The complete set of tweets are mentioned below:
“In other news while I'm dropping this stuff, and I think I can talk about this, I'll mention there is a couple new Silent Hill games in the works. Konami about two years ago reached out to various developers to pitch ideas for two Silent Hill games, one a soft-reboot of the franchise, the other an episodic Telltale/Until Dawn-style game to go alongside the reboot," AesthaticGamer's tweet read. "I don't know anything more than that though, but I sure do hope Konami's given it the appropriate budget and found the right developer to make those games succeed.”
AesthaticGamer later clarified that “This is just a guess, but I'd say there's a high chance one or both of those titles may be revealed this year, but we'll see. I don't actually know their plans or anything about these games other than their existence though, I don't know much about the inner workings of Konami.”
This is not the first attempt by Konami to bring back the Silent Hill franchise. In 2014, P.T. was released, which was a teaser for a new Silent Hill on PlayStation 4. The game was later canceled due to the departure of Hideo Kojima from Konami. P.T. was later removed from the PlayStation Store, which eliminated any chance to reinstall the game.
