The time jump in The Walking Dead comics has allowed Robert Kirkman to bring up some old feelings in Maggie.
In The Walking Dead #160, Hilltop member Dante basically professes his love for Maggie to her face. Maggie allows Dante to flirt with her, but she never made a move on him and he’s always respected her space. However, Maggie rejects Dante’s feelings in a harsh, but direct way. Maggie likes Dante, but she can never love him like she loved Glenn.
"Yes. You're not my husband, okay? I like you, Dante. I think I think you're nice. But I'll only ever love Glenn. I don't have any room in my heart for someone else. It wouldn't be fair to you,” Maggie told Dante.
She goes on to say thinking about Glenn still makes her happy. Does this mean Maggie in The Walking Dead TV series won’t move on? No. However, the TV version of Maggie is still grieving the loss of her husband and trying to deal with a tough pregnancy. She also wants to kill Negan, so she’s got enough to deal with. Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie on the show, recently explained to Entertainment Weekly how her character is dealing with the death of her husband, Glenn.
“What Negan’s actions do to Maggie is light this crazy fuse. And we’ll see that burn pretty strong,” Cohan told EW . “I think it’s very Glenn that she gets up and insists on taking his body and she wants to protect him and give him a funeral that he deserves and that overcomes all the inhibition. And so Negan gives Maggie vengeance, and I don’t think that she’s a vengeful person, but It’s going to be a really interesting push and pull this season. You’ll see how she lives on in honor of Glenn and in vengeance of Negan, and it’s a real war in her brain, and in protection of the baby.”
Yeah, Maggie needs a little “me” time before she can get with anyone. She has some things to take care of, you know, like overthrowing Gregory and taking over the Hilltop community. She’s pull through. The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
