Attention The Walking Dead comic fans: Get hyped for the first image from Negan’s backstory issue. Fans will get the first look at the 48-page issue titled Here’s Negan written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Charlie Adlard with the release of Image+ , a new magazine from Image Comics and Diamond Comic Distributors .
Here's Negan follows the backstory of the infamous The Walking Dead villain. The first teaser image features Negan wrapping the barbed wire around his baseball bat. There’s no context for the images, but seeing Negan wrap his beloved Lucille is intense, especially after The Walking Dead Season 6 finale.
However, don’t expect to see any Negan backstory in The Walking Dead TV series any time soon.Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who play Negan on the show, recently told The Hollywood Reporter he’s unsure how much of the character’s history will be portrayed in the series.
"I talked to Robert Kirkman after we did Talking Dead, and he is doing the backstory of Negan right now. But whether or not — or when — we see that, and I hope we do, I can't answer that. But hopefully we'll find out more as we go," Morgan said. "I approach [Negan] … like he used to be a used-car salesman. That's what I know, and there's not a lot beyond that. … He's a car salesman who has survived as long as Rick and his gang, so what has he done to get there?"
Here’s Negan does not have an official release date, but the first issue of Image+ featuring the comic hits stand on April 27.
