Carol is a difficult person to read, even for someone like Ezekiel. No one knows what Carol wants and how far she’s willing to go in The Walking Dead Season 7.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, actor Khary Payton spoke about his character Ezekiel’s relationship to Carol. We don’t know if the two are romantically involved, but King Ezekiel is intrigued by her.

"Man, I don't know," Payton told ComicBook.com, trying to explain Ezekiel’s relationship with Carol. "I honestly don't know. That woman is hard to read. I know that Ezekiel likes her. I'm not sure how much he likes her. I think Ezekiel likes a challenge more than anything. Carol is definitely a challenge, but I honestly can't tell which way it's going to go. She's a tough nut to crack."

Ezekiel was drawn to Carol because she has a great ability to adapt to her surroundings. She says King Ezekiel was playing this regal role and thought the damsel in distress act was the best route for her to take with him. Ezekiel saw right through her, but the act still worked. In the end, Carol left the Kingdom and got what she wanted: solitude.

Carol’s tired. She doesn’t want to kill anyone. She doesn’t want to care about anyone. Do we think she’s going to remain isolated? Probably not. Do we think Carol trusts Ezekiel enough to stick around? Definitely not. Carol doesn’t know what happened to Glenn and Abraham. She’s partly to blame for Daryl, Michonne and Glenn being captured by the Saviors. Had they not gone out looking for Carol, maybe Glenn would’ve survived.

But that’s a rabbit hole we don’t need to fall into. Glenn’s dead. Negan’s a threat. We need Scarol to come out and save Alexandria. We need Scarol to save Rick. The Walking Dead Season 7 returns Feb. 12 on AMC.
