Christine Evangelista, who plays Sherry on The Walking Dead Season 7, has some news about her character’s connections to Daryl, Negan and Dwight.
We last saw Daryl in The Walking Dead Season 7 reunite with Rick and the crew at the Hilltop community. We don’t know who helped Daryl escape, but we know someone had to have let him out. The person who helped Daryl escape left a box of matches on a door and the keys to his monster bike; all these signs point to Sherry.
Evangelista had some interesting things to say about her character during an interview with Yahoo! TV, which leads us to believe our suspicions that Sherry was the one who let Daryl go, not her ex-husband Dwight.
“Where you left off with her, she was in the world of the Sanctuary, under Negan’s thumb, and trying to do right by Daryl. She’s in this triangle at the moment with her ex-husband, her current husband, and then there’s Daryl,” Evangelista told Yahoo! TV. “She’s trying to redeem herself, so when or how she does that, I think that’ll be interesting to see.”
Evangelista added,“I think there’s also this thing in Daryl that reminds her of who Dwight used to be, before he turned, before he became a murderer in her eyes. Before they separated. I think she looks at Daryl as this… It’s sad. I think she definitely feels guilt for what she did to [Daryl], even though he tried to help her and her family at the time, but I think she’s sort of looking at him now with this longing, like, ‘Oh, I don’t want what happened to Dwight to happen to you,’ if there’s anything that she could do. I think that’s sort of where she is.”
Evangelista also told Yahoo! TV her character has no romantic interest in Negan. Yes, the two shared an intense kiss in front of Dwight, but she’s putting up a front for self-preservation. She knows what Negan is capable of and would rather stay on his good side. Sherry has become Negan’s favorite girl, and she uses it to her advantage. She’s fiercely protective of Negan’s other wives and doesn’t want anything bad to happen to them.
