Negan got a little too comfortable in Rick’s home in The Walking Dead Season 7 episode 7. It’s making us quite nervous, and you should be worried as well.
[Warning: The Walking Dead Season 7 spoilers ahead]
In the comics, Judith died in Lori’s arms when the Governor attacked the prison. In the show, Judith is a surprisingly healthy one or two-year-old. Negan is immediately drawn to Judith and Carl. Negan holds Judith as if she was his own and it’s creepy, which leads us to believe he wants his own little family. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan on the show, actually spoke about his connection to Carl during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“I just think that if Negan were to have a kid, he would want him to be this kid. He respects this kid and maybe he sees a bit of himself in him,” Morgan said. “His initial read on Carl as a little future serial killer is not only a great line, but there’s something he sees in Carl. Carl never has backed away from Negan. His dad has been in tears and no one else will make eye contact, yet Carl never breaks eye contact with Negan during the lineup or anything else, anything we’ve shot. He’s always pissed and I think there’s just a lot of respect there that Negan has for this kid to grow up in this world as he has and survive as long as he had. Negan just simply respects him.”
Negan takes what he wants, and he seems to want Carl and Judith at this point. Negan didn’t have children before the zombie apocalypse; his wife Lucille died just as the world was falling apart. Negan has a lot of wives, but none of them seem to be expecting a child. Negan also makes it clear to his wives they must remain faithful to him, and it looks like it’s because he wants a kid.
Judith is young enough for Negan to raise as his own. We wouldn’t put it past him to take Judith back with him and start his own little family with his wives. There are no children in the Sanctuary, so this might be his only chance to play the father role. Think about it. It’s possible his wives won’t survive a pregnancy, let alone childbirth. Judith is a miracle baby. What if Negan taking Judith is the reason why Rick decides to rise up against Negan? It would make for a good story, that’s for sure.
