This June, in War Thunder, the Pages of History are taking players right in the middle of events which happened at numerous battlefronts, including the landings in Normandy and the start of Operation Barbossa.
There are eight consecutive tasks spread out from June 1 to June 30. Completing each gives you a trophy with one of the following rewards:
- 20% to 50% RP booster for 3-10 battles
- 20% to 50% SL booster for 3-10 battles
- 3-5 universal backup vehicles
- 1 day of premium account
- A random camouflage for ground vehicles
Final Reward
Those who can complete all eight tasks earn a unique player icon and it is Nikolai Gastello.
When Germany invaded the Soviet Union, Gastello was not only a squadron leader but also had nine years of flight experience. Two days after the start of Barbarossa, he brought down a Luftwaffe plane using just the turret of a DB-3f resting on an airfield. A few days later, the aircraft he was piloting was hit and caught fire. He then flew his flaming bomber to the enemy.
His actions earned him the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with his valor becoming an example for other Soviet pilots.
The Missions
The eight consecutive tasks are:
- Battle of Midway (June 1 to June 4)
- Considered as the most important sea battle of the Pacific Front in WWII where the US delivered a crushing defeat to the Imperial Navy of Japan.
- D-day (June 5 to June 8)
- Considered as the largest landing operation in history, more than 24,000 paratroopers were dropped behind enemy lines to make sure that another 130,000 Allies from the sea would have a safe landing.
- Battle of Sultan Yacoub (June 9 to June 12)
- This was a battle where Israeli soldiers were able to escape but tank losses were high.
- Battle of Villers-Bocage (June 12 to June 15)
- This happened a week after the landing in Normandy and the British forces were caught off guard by the Germans who used the superiority of the Tigers to destroy the British.
- Operation Battleaxe (June 15 to June 18)
- The British Commonwealth forces tried to lift the siege of Tobruk and push the Axis from East Cyrenaica but Erwin Rommel planned the defense.
- This resulted in the Allies losing almost 100 tanks and three dozen aircraft and had to retreat.
- Battle of the Philippine Sea (June 19 to June 22)
- Japan went into this battle with its largest air carrier force but the inexperience of the Japanese pilots against the well-trained Americans and their state-of-the-art anti-air defenses resulted in the loss of more than 600 aircraft.
- Battle of Raseiniai (June 23 to June 26)
- Parts of the Red Army stationed in Lithuania tried to hold off the invading German forces but the lack of planning and supplies resulted in a failure with almost all Soviet tanks destroyed.
- Fire ram (June 27 to June 30)
- The downed bomber piloted by Nikolai Gastello performed a flaming ram on a German panzer column.
