War Tortoise is a mobile tower defense game unlike any other. Forsaken Media has recreated the tower defense formula, cutting away all the fat and leaving you with a thrilling experience. You are a mouse on a tortoise, and your job is to gun down all the little critters that are jumping, running and shooting at you. You complete levels, with each one having ten waves.
Here are a few tips to get the most out of this wacky shooter.
The Machine Gun is your best friend. You will use this one gun through most of the game, so upgrading it first is a priority.
It is a free-to-play game so there are a few annoying video ads to watch. They do make it worth your while, doubling the amount of money you get for logging in. It’s worth wasting thirty seconds for an extra $2500
You don’t need exact precision when aiming your weapon. As long as you hover on top of the enemy, you will shoot it.
Enemies with exclamation marks above their heads need to die first. The bomber beetles, fireflies and other weaponized animals will do the most damage to you if you leave them alone.
Make sure to buy your Sniper rifle before wave four, that way you can one-shot the rhinoceros beetles and skinks.
Getting as many support units as possible is key to getting past some of the earlier levels. You should get a Mouse Assault Squad, followed by a Mining Tower, then a Gun Tower. Upgrade them all as much as possible, because they can do some serious damage.
Keep in mind that each weapon and support unit can be upgraded multiple different ways. You might want to lower the recharge time on your Sniper rifle, or maybe increase the critical strike chance on your Machine Gun. I find I do more damage when I upgrade my Rate of Fire first.
Perks are really important. Getting 110 percent extra damage buff on a Mouse Assault Squad can really help you out. Make sure you don’t waste your perks, try to find out which ones work best for your playstyle.
When you get past level 5, you get access to the auto-battle mode. When you skip to the next generation, this becomes your favorite button. Just remember that it only works with your Machine Gun, so if you need to kill some tanky guys, manually switch to the sniper.
Those glowing green rocks on the field can be tapped to get money.
As you progress in the game, you have chances to switch Generations. If the level you are on is too difficult, then it might be a smart idea to switch to the next Generation. Make sure you get good perks though, there’s no point in wasting them.
The more times you die, the higher your respawn timer goes. I usually switch Generations after I die three times because the respawn timer gets to be over ten minutes.
