The Galaxy Note 7 should be official in just about three weeks, as Samsung sent out invites to an Unpacked event, scheduled for Aug. 2. Samsung typically calls its official announcement events for flagship devices “Unpacked,” so while nothing has yet been confirmed, we can assume the Note 7 will make its debut then. Samsung’s invites often hold a number of clues about what will be unveiled at Unpacked events. We’ve pieced together a little of what we can expect come Aug. 2.
Samsung will livestream the event
Samsung is known for livestreaming its smartphone launches. The upcoming Unpacked invite indicates a live stream will be available at Samsung.com .
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 should be confirmed
There is a number seven teased on the invite, which leads us to believe the upcoming Samsung smartphone will in fact be called the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung should also explain why it has decided to skip the Galaxy Note 6 name and go straight to seven.
Samsung may announce updates to the Galaxy Note 7 S-Pen stylus
The invite also includes an image of an S-Pen stylus, which could indicate the Galaxy Note 7 will have major upgrades to its stylus. From the image, we can assume the Galaxy Note 7 will have the same press-to-eject feature introduced on the Galaxy Note 5. Next to the S-Pen is an image of what appears to be several S-Pen points in a circle.
Samsung should confirm whether the Galaxy Note 7 features an iris scanner
While the other image on the Unpacked invite kind of looks like a circle of S-Pen points, it also resembles an iris of the eye. This could hint that Samsung will announce an iris scanner for the Galaxy Note 7. The feature has been long rumored and several device leaks indicate the component is real.
Samsung may preview what it will announce at IFA in September
In 2015, Samsung teased the launch of the Galaxy Gear S2 smartwatch at the end of the Galaxy Note 5 Unpacked event. It is possible the manufacturer may do the same this year and tease the rumored Galaxy Gear S3. There are a few details circulating about an upcoming Samsung smartwatch, which may feature designs from a famous watchmaker . Many expect the wearable to release in September.
